For 10+ years, browsing, searching, and publishing open terminology on OCL has been free — and we're committed to keeping it that way. We've built an extraordinary open resource together with over 2.3M+ concepts and growing. Public terminology belongs to the community. OCL's tools are open too, so you can start at OCL Online and move to a managed deployment or your own servers when you're ready.

We're offering them as we better understand our full operating costs and what it will take to scale the service. Select an annual plan to lock in the price for the year. Preview: a free preview of the paid feature. For the OCL Mapper, matching and the OCL AI Assistant it's one-time: currently 1 Mapper project of up to 25 rows, 100 match operations and 25 OCL AI Assistant calls.

Yes. Browsing, searching, and publishing public terminology is free, as it always has been, and we're committed to keeping it that way. The new paid plans are for tools that go beyond the open commons.
The OCL Mapper with the OCL AI Assistant is the big one — plus private repositories, semantic search over your own content, the MCP server, and the FHIR terminology service beyond its free preview. Most of this didn't exist before now.
The things that cost real money to run and go beyond public, open terminology: AI-assisted mapping, private content, and higher usage limits. Public terminology stays free.
Each paid plan includes a monthly allowance. When you reach it, that feature pauses until your allowance renews. Pay-for-use details will be announced soon.
Your content stays where it is. If your account was created before November 1, you have until December 1, 2026 to subscribe to keep using premium functionality. The FAQ sets out exactly what happens to existing content, including private repositories.
From November 1, 2026. Until then these plans are a preview and checkout isn't open. Request early access now and we'll bring you in as we roll the new tools out.
